As the founder and inaugural President of the Pride Chamber of Kern, David Madding (He/Him/His) is excited to advance the mission of inclusive economic empowerment through advocacy, development, and education.

David, a proud Bakersfield native, attended Centennial High School and then pursued his higher education at the University of California, Riverside, where he earned his B.A. in Philosophy. He further honed his skills by obtaining a Master of Public Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Administration from California State University, Bakersfield.

David has worked for more than ten years in the public and nonprofit sectors, for The Open Door Network and the County of Kern, and his work has centered on empowering people toward self-determination.

In his spare time, David volunteers on numerous committees and boards throughout the community, including the Socio-economic Status and Poverty subcommittee with Kern County Public Health, the Steering Committee with Blue Zones Project, the Public Policy and Administration Advisory Board with CSU Bakersfield, the Planning and Performance Committee with the Kern/Bakersfield Homeless Collaborative, and as the founder and Chapter president of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) student chapter at CSU Bakersfield.

David's vision for Kern County is one of prosperity and inclusivity for the 2SLGBTQ+ community. He envisions a future where our business, professional, and economic needs are not just heard, but also valued and prioritized. He warmly invites you to join the Pride Chamber of Kern and be a part of this transformative journey towards a more inclusive Kern County business culture.
